For a small town, we have a lot going on here. This page provides a directory of Jubilee Station’s services and resources. Keep checking back as we add more!
A Culture of Generosity
We pride ourselves on the quality of the welcome we offer – not just to visitors like You, but to each other as well. For us, generosity, care, and a warm welcome are the things that make life worth living. We hope you will enjoy everything we have to offer.
Town Landmarks
College Avenue is the main road through the center of town, running from Lucretia Mott College at the top of the South Hills, down to the River, and across into the North Hills neighborhood. This is where we gather for community-wide events like the Cumberland March.
The Jubilee Station Union Hall is shared by all of the trade unions in town, including the Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, Nurses, Delivery Drivers, and Care Providers. The Union Hall is the home of Cafe Frances, open to the public on the ground floor, and the restrooms offer free personal care supplies for the community.
Our world-famous Greenhouses are located on the roofs of most of the homes in the North Hills neighborhood. They supply most of the veggies you can buy at our year-round Farmer’s Market, which takes place every Saturday morning. The Greenhouses are under the care of the Jubilee Station Land Trust, which ensures that housing in the North Hills neighborhood remains affordable, safe, and welcoming.
Community Services and Recreation
Our award-winning Main Library, located at the corner of College Avenue and Curtin Street, hosts our monthly Welcome Breakfast on the second Saturday of every month. You can borrow books, of course, but you can also borrow tools, games, baby equipment, and more. Maker spaces are located within the Library, on the ground floor and in the basement. Recording studios are on the 5th floor.
The Play Library is located at The Everyone Playground year-round, and at the River Beach in the summer months. You can borrow toys, games, sports equipment, and in the summer, beach chairs and umbrellas. We organize a number of low-stress sports leagues, including Rec Softball.
For those who want to stretch their legs, our Ridgeline Trail circles town, and connects with the observation deck located directly on the ridge above Lucretia Mott College. When the conditions are just right, you can go up there and see the Northern Lights.
Our volunteer Festival Committee coordinates many of our cherished annual events, including our Mother’s Day tradition of making dinner for all of the Moms and Grandmoms in town. (Shhh… it’s supposed to be a surprise. Don’t tell them!)
On Alumni Weekend, the last weekend of May, we invite all former Jubilee Station residents to come back and visit us again.
Then, for PorchLuck on the third Saturday of June, we host each other on our porches, driveways, and sidewalks, sharing music, crafts, and fun-sized experiences as a community.
Speaking of music, our Concert Club organizes monthly trips to the City to see a live show together. If you don’t know the selected artist, don’t worry – the Club sends out a playlist before the show, so you can get familiar with the artist’s work.
If you’re looking for something quieter, our Puzzle Exchange has thousands of jigsaw puzzles available for the entire town to use. You can stop by the ¡Jugamos! toy store on College Avenue anytime during normal business hours to pick up or drop off puzzles.
Education and Care
Jubilee Station offers a first-class education and care system, taking care of our residents of all ages.
Our youngest residents start out at the Care Center, where 24-hour day care is available at reasonable prices to all families. Children from 6 weeks old through Pre-K are welcome. The Care Center is also our live-in home for older residents who need extra day-to-day support.
Octavius Catto Elementary School serves Kindergarten through 5th grades, while Bayard Rustin Middle School is our home for 6th through 8th graders. Thaddeus Stevens High School, located on the outskirts of town, serves grades 9 through 12.
Lucretia Mott College, at the top of College Avenue in the South Hills, is our accredited 4-year college, founded in 1875, the same year as Jubilee Station itself. The College shares many of its facilities with the town, such as the Natatorium, which is a natural swimming pool formed within a limestone cavern.
